I'm Coming Out Against Bullying

Beginning today, EQLA is launching an online week of action against bullying.

In 2011 and 2012, three Louisiana students took their own lives as a result of the bullying and harassment they were subjected to. These three tragedies occurred in a span of less than twelve months.

Even after this, the Louisiana Legislature did not pass anti-bullying legislation both years after the Louisiana Family Forum publicly opposed the legislation. This campaign is meant to combat some of that hatred and prejudice because ALL children deserve to be safe in schools.

You can participate in the week of action just by changing your cover photo on Facebook to the purple image at the top of this post.

Running from Tuesday, October 8, through Friday, October 11, the week of action coincides with an important day to the LGBT community -National Coming Out Day, celebrated on October 11.

Throughout the week, EQLA will share images and statistics related to bullying and suicide. Please, share these with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. On Wednesday, join EQLA for a Twitter day of action to draw attention to the Louisiana Family Forum’s repeated disregard for our children and their safety.

We need your help, and we need your voice. Please, come out against bullying with us this week.
